My how time flies when you’re having fun! We now find ourselves at the back end of our season with our MiniRoos now having played their last games and our Seniors also on the cusp of wrapping up their fixtures.
Whilst the end of the junior season will be met with a tinge of sadness by our players (and probably some relief by their parents 😊), we hope that all of the children have continued to develop their skills, strengthened friendships or made some new friends, and most importantly have enjoyed playing football with their BALLA team in 2021.
Our Senior teams have all faired differently this season, with our Masters and Reserves teams sitting in the meaty middle part of their tables, and with our Men’s First Team and Women’s team both having enjoyed commendable seasons thus far. This weekend sees all of our Senior teams playing at Home on Sunday, with our Ladies right up at the pointy end of the table and a good chance to finish in the top 2, and so I hope to see as many of you as possible at Kingfisher Park supporting our teams and sharing a drink with friends.
The 2021 season coming to a close is also significant for me personally as it sees my tenure as President and Committee Member also coming to a close. Having been in this role for far more years than I ever anticipated, the time is nigh for me to step aside and let someone else lead our wonderful community Club. I’ll have more to say about my time at the helm and the enjoyment and many challenges it has brought over the years when we hold our AGM in a couple of months’ time (Sunday, 28th November at 1:00pm), but in the meantime I’d encourage you all to think about how you might get more involved with the Club, whether as part of the Committee, as a Coach, Team Manager or regular helper in some other capacity. Without the help of our loyal and valued members, parents and supporters, our community Club would only be a shadow of itself.
I’d also like to acknowledge the herculean efforts of my partner Leonie Cameron who has been the Club’s Registrar for as long as I have been President, and who will also be stepping down from her role at season end. Leonie has done a massive job for the Club year in year out and we owe her a great debt of gratitude for her considerable efforts. Again, more will be said about these changes at the end of year AGM, and of course, the new starting line-up for 2022 and beyond will be discussed and decided at that meeting.
We are however not quite done yet with several important end of season events still to come for our Club, so please read on to find out what dates you need to mark in your calendars so you or your kids don’t miss out. Remember also to like and follow us on Facebook for regular updates and banter about our Club activities, events and our upcoming games.
Thank you for your ongoing support folks, and as always – GO BALLA!!
Regards, Mike Peverley (President)
Talk about a fantastic event! Not having done one of these in some time, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it is fair to say that our recently held Quiz Night on Friday 6th August exceeded all expectations and proved to be a great success.
With just shy of 100 people filling our Clubroom on the night, prizes galore donated by our wonderful sponsors and supporters, and some spirited competition on show from our members, their partners and friends, a great night was had by all with a majority of people being lucky enough to take home some booty they’d won in a raffle, one of the games, or for their actual quiz efforts. The major prize of the night, a voucher for dinner at Pinelli Estate, kindly donated by Mike Cox of Acclaimed Catering was taken away by a group led by First Team Captain – Daniel Clarkson.
A big thank you again to Andy Barret – The Quizzard of Oz – who was our Quizmaster on the night and who helped ensure the questions and fun kept coming in equal doses, and of course to all of our helpers and our Committee Members who helped make this a thoroughly enjoyed and memorable event.
People are already asking if we are going to do another Quiz Night at some point, so that’s a good sign that it should be in our 2022 line up of events.

All of our MiniRoos players are invited to attend our Junior Presentation Day at Kingfisher Park on Sunday 17th October from 10am for a few hours. This event celebrates the fantastic efforts of all of our MiniRoos teams and brings to a close the 2021 winter season for our kids.
All players will receive a trophy and get a free sausage sizzle and soft drink on the day. There will also be free bouncy castles and entertainment for players and their families. A reminder too that Photo Orders will be ready for pickup for our MiniRoos teams at the Junior Presentation Day.
More details will follow over the coming weeks, but please put the date aside as we’d love to see as many of our juniors and their families there on the day.
