May Update

Comments from our President

Its great to have our 2021 football season well and truly off and running with weekend games at Kingfisher now being enjoyed by all our kids and seniors, as well as their parents, families and friends alike. Our Men’s First Team are off to a great start in Amateurs Division 3, as is our Women’s team in their Metro North Division 3 comp. It has been more of a mixed bag for our Masters Over 45 team and our Men’s Reserves with great things still to come no doubt, and our Miniroos are just lovely to watch as they have fun and continue to enjoy and learn more and more about our great game each week.

Huge thanks as always to all our Coaches, Team Managers and other volunteers without whose help our Club could simply not function. Please continue to support them however you can, particularly at training and on game days, as any assistance with things like putting up and taking down goals/nets, fetching balls, washing strips and just getting together and cheering on our teams is ever so appreciated. Similarly, please be sure to get behind the Club and support the canteen, bar and any fundraising initiatives we run as any monies we make get ploughed straight back into the running of the Club and upkeep of our equipment which benefits all our members. And in that connection, keep an eye out for details about the fun Quiz Night we will be running early in July at our Clubhouse and please let us know if you or your employer may be interested in sponsoring or providing some prizes for the prize pool.

Thanks to the City of Swan for completing the drainage works that were happening right in front of our Clubhouse in the lead up to the start of the season. The eastern side of Pitch A was able to remediated and ready just in time for our first Senior matches (phew!), and whilst there does appear to have been some improvement to the water retention issues that side of the pitch used to suffer from, the real test will of course come as those good ol’ rainy game days become more prevalent throughout winter (fingers crossed).

Your continuing support is greatly appreciated everyone and I look forward to seeing you and saying hi at one of your team’s next home games.

Regards, Mike Peverley (President)

New Sponsor – McLoughlin Butchers

A huge thank you and welcome to McLoughlin Butchers who have come on board this year as our First & Reserves Amateur teams’ sponsor. McLoughlin Butchers have been great supporters of the Club over the years and so it is fabulous to have them join us as a formal sponsor for the 2021 season.

With their business only a stone’s throw away on Westchester Road in Malaga and plenty of quality small goods and meats available to shop customers (their BBQ sausages received so many compliments at our recent Bunnings sausage sizzle!), be sure to drop in some time and sample their products and enjoy their hospitality.

Football West Community Football Raffle

Want a chance at winning a brand-new Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line? Then be sure to grab a couple of tickets in this year’s Football West Community Football Raffle when you are next around the Clubhouse. Tickets are only $2 and every dollar raised is reinvested back into the Club so we can update our equipment and other materials for the benefit of all our junior and adult members.

And if you might be able to help sell a raffle book (or two) to family, friends or work colleagues, please email us at ballajura.afc@gmail.com as we’d be very happy to arm you up – the more individuals and families selling tickets on the Club’s behalf the better. All sold and unsold tickets with all monies received ($40 per book of sold tickets) need to be returned to the Club or your Coach or Team Manager by Wednesday 30th June (or earlier if possible).

Tickets can also be bought online at https://footballwest.auraffles.com.au/purchase-tickets – just be sure to select Ballajura AFC when making your purchase so our Club gets the benefit of your support.

Ladders & Fixtures

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates about upcoming games and latest results for our Senior teams. As well as keeping uptodate with how our teams are travelling, you can also enjoy and add to the regular banter about the exploits of our loyal players. Big thanks to Mike Hoy who does a stellar job in managing all the posts & updates on the Club’s Facebook site in the leadup to and after our Senior matches.

You can also find fixture details for all our Ballajura AFC Senior and Miniroos teams on the Football West website (click on “Play” then “Competition Fixtures & Results”) but beware, fixtures have a habit of getting updated at the last minute (especially for Miniroos!), so always be sure to check with your Coach or Team Manager about weekend match details.
