The 2022 season is now off and running. As we all know however, just like the past two years, 2022 is presenting some challenges for our Club, parents, coaches, players and supporters when it comes to managing the effects of COVID-19. We have already had a number of our members and opposing club members affected by this virus resulting in the rescheduling of fixtures due to player absences.
We kindly ask all of our members to be patient as we navigate through a year that will continually present challenges. Your Club and the coaching staff will keep you informed as soon as possible of any cancellations, postponements or changes to kick-off times that may become necessary.
To a brighter note, 2022 has seen an increase in membership across both the junior and senior sections of the Club. A new senior men’s side is competing in the Metropolitan League, and although narrowly going down 2-1 in their first fixture, they rallied to draw their second fixture and brought home a resounding 5-1 win in round 3.
Our Club recently hosted the Miniroos clusters after a request from Football West to bring our hosting duties well forward in the season to help with some fixturing difficulties they were having. A big thank you to our Registrar Christina Earley and her band of helpers for hosting the clusters at short notice and doing an amazing job for the benefit of all the children and parents involved.
Many of you would have noticed both Pitch A and B are taking shape and quite a bit of work has been done on these pitches by the City of Swan in the last 2 – 3 months. Further work has occurred in the week starting Monday 16th May where large sections of both pitches have been re-turfed. In that connection, we’re just asking all coaches and players to stay off these newly turfed areas for a few days to help the grass settle in.
The BAFC Committee is working hard to make 2022 a great year and to provide more benefits than ever to our members. One initiative is the introduction of membership cards which will be spoken about in more detail in the next section. We’re also looking to have our Canteen open a little more regularly on Sundays when we have Junior and Senior games at home, so be sure to check out the various hot food (including Halal options), snacks & drinks on offer and help support our fundraising endeavours.
We are also more active on our social media platforms so remember to like us on Facebook for regular updates and information about upcoming activities, events and games, and be sure to check out our New Website which has now been live for a couple of months.
Best Regards

In the coming weeks, all paying members of Ballajura AFC will be issued with a membership card. These cards can be presented at participating businesses where you will receive a discount on goods and / or services.
These cards will be free of charge in 2022 and a list of participating businesses will soon be listed on a member’s page of our website for easy reference. Once we have put the finishing touches on the member’s page, the cards will be distributed to the coaching staff to be handed out to all players.
This is a great club initiative, and we thank our supporting businesses for coming on board and providing a true benefit to our members.

The Club was delighted to host the Ian Dennis Charity Match on Friday, 29 April 2022 which once again proved to be a great success. This annual “Liverpool vs the World” friendly match is held in honour of our friend Ian Dennis who sadly lost his battle with leukaemia last year. This year in-excess of $12,000 was raised which was a fantastic result, with this entire fundraised amount to be donated to a ‘local family in need’ that has been nominated by Ian’s friends.
Huge thanks to our entire community, friends and all Committee and other helpers that assisted in the leadup to and on the big day itself. Everyone involved helped ensure this important event was as successful as it was. The event had a great family friendly feel with plenty of activities arranged to keep the kids happy, whilst also catering for the adults and ensuring that plenty of fundraising happened across the evening.
Thank you to everyone who donated money or products or got along to all or some of the evening, and we will almost certainly look to run a 3rd instalment of this wonderful initiative next year. And for those interested in helping combat leukaemia, get in touch with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and have a chat about what’s involved with getting added to the Western Australia Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
We have recently consolidated a number of Codes of Conduct into a single document that contains clear and consistent information to all of our members and which details expectations of behaviour for all of our club members and visitors.
The new Code of Conduct also includes an additional section on social media behaviour. The new Code of Conduct can be found on our website at the below link:

Ballajura AFC prides itself on being accepting and inclusive of all members from many diverse backgrounds. It is through this tolerance, understanding and acceptance that our Club has grown into what it is today.
Early notice that the annual Club Quiz Night is slated for the evening of Friday, 15th July, so please mark this date in your calendars and start thinking about getting your table together. This event was a great success last year and tables will sell-out quickly, so be sure to get in early to avoid disappointment. Tables will again be $100 each for up to 8 people, and will only be reserved once paid for in full.
We are currently reaching out to all of our wonderful supporters to start building a great prize pool for the Quiz Night, so if you know any local businesses or individuals that may be interested in donating a prize and supporting the Club, please let them know to get in touch. We’d love to have as many supporters and sponsors as possible once again involved, and will of course do whatever we can to acknowledge their contribution and promote their brand/services to our membership and supporter base.
