March Update

Comments from our President

With Autumn upon us it’s wonderful to have activity back around the Club with the commencement to our 2021 football season now only a few weeks away. Training sessions have kicked in for all our Miniroos and Senior teams and it’s great to see all of our members up and about kicking balls and enjoying our great game. Draft fixtures should be out soon from Football West and our Coaches or Team Managers will obviously share details with players and parents of when and where our first games will be in April.

Our sausage sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings Malaga on Saturday 6 March went well and pleasingly helped us bring in just under $800 for the Club. Huge thanks as always to those players and committee members who contributed their time on the day as without their help, we wouldn’t be able to take up this opportunity for the Club: Morning shift David Haddock, Bill Lyon, Victoria Burton, Shaun Atkinson, Daniel Clarkson; Lunchtime shift Arthur Harrison, Albert Ferraloro, Joe Woodin, Tomas Divilly, Iain White; Afternoon Shift Brendan Divilly, Ben Hasler, Rose Cunningham, Leonie Cameron and myself; and of course, Jason and Christina Earley for their invaluable logistical work in the background.

And whilst we are talking about funds for the Club, the recent state election results should see us receiving $10,000 at some point in the future which was pledged to the Club by our local MLA Rita Saffioti. We are most grateful for this contribution by the State Government and are already throwing around ideas for new sporting equipment and upgrades which will be of great assistance to the Club and our members going forward.

Lastly, most of you will have noticed the works currently taking place at Kingfisher Oval and the temporary fencing right in front of our clubhouse and may be wondering what is afoot. The City of Swan is undertaking some drainage upgrades that will hopefully improve the situation with water retention on the clubhouse side of our main pitch which has had a tendency to get waterlogged when the winter rains come through. We have been advised that the works will be completed and the ground will be up to match standard by the end of March and so remain hopeful that the impact on our training activities and the start of our football season will be minimal.

Thank you for your continuing support everyone and we look forward to further ramping up activities as we move closer to the start of our football season.

Regards, Mike Peverley (President)

2021 Teams & Coaches

With the majority of our registrations now completed, our Miniroos and Senior teams for the 2021 season have now been confirmed. As always, we need to greatly thank all of those parents and friends of the Club who have stepped forward to assist our teams as Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers. Without these generous people contributing their time and considerable efforts, our Club simply couldn’t exist and you or your kids wouldn’t have a team to play in, so we are ever so grateful to have them with us at BAFC.

The full list of our Miniroos and Senior teams and their training days is provided below, and we would ask that you please provide whatever support you can to our Coaches and their teams throughout the season as they look after our players and do their very best to ensure they continue to enjoy themselves and develop along their football journey.
