July Update

Comments from our President

With the first half of our football season now behind us, it is great to see all our Seniors and MiniRoos enjoying their football, getting some great results and having plenty of laughs with teammates. The weather hasn’t always been kind to us but playing on those wet days and on those muddy pitches (NB. not ours which are holding up really well this year!) often produce some of those great memories which live on with us for years to come.

Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates about Club activities and events, and upcoming games and latest results for our Senior teams. As well as keeping abreast of how our teams are travelling (the Men’s First Team are going great guns at the moment!), you can also enjoy and contribute to the regular banter about the exploits of our BALLA teams and individuals. We’re also in the process of (finally) updating the Club’s website (having secured a Football West grant recently to specifically fund this), so once that goes live it will provide another great source of info about our Club’s activities, team info (for both Seniors and MiniRoos teams) and other regular updates.

In years gone by we used to encourage our Juniors to get along to our Seniors’ home games (with their parents) and help out as ball boys and girls, and this is something we are looking at making happen again going forward. So, if your child is one of our own current or budding future football stars, bring them down to watch our Seniors at one of our upcoming home games (preferably in their blue training shirt if they have one) and there is a drink and candy bar in it for them if they help out with ball boy/girl duties for the duration of the game.

Finally, I want to advise of a Special General Meeting we will be holding on the evening of Thursday 26th August to which all members are welcome. The purpose of this meeting is for the general membership to elect people nominated by the Committee to Honorary Life Member status with the Club. This process is required under the Club Rules, Clause 6d:

“HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS, being members who have rendered meritorious service over an extended period of time and who have been recommended to a General Meeting by the Committee of Management and elected by three fourths majority of the members present and voting at such meeting, provided that there shall be no more than two honorary life members elected in any one year”.

Official notification of the Meeting will be sent next week.
Thank you as always for your support everyone and I look forward to seeing you and/or your kids at some of their next home games.

Regards, Mike Peverley (President)

Quiz Night

Our upcoming Quiz Night on Friday 6th August is shaping up to be a fantastic event so hopefully you’ve already got yourself onto a table and are looking forward to joining us on the night. With a professional quiz master running the show, loads of prizes secured from our wonderful supporters and sponsors, and some other games planned to add to and mix things up on the night, loads of good fun, banter and laughs are guaranteed.

As at the date of writing, there is still room for one more table ($100/table – 8 persons max), so if you are interested in joining in the fun and pulling a table together, drop us an email, send us a text or give us a call ASAP to reserve your spot and avoid disappointment. Doors open at 6:00pm (drinks available from the bar from about 6:01pm ), the quiz will start at 7:00pm, and you can BYO food for your table to devour over the course of the evening.

We’re looking forward to seeing loads of our members and their family and friends at the Clubhouse on the night.

Team Photos

A reminder to all that our team photos have been arranged to be taken on the evenings of Wednesday 4th August and Thursday 5th August. All teams have already been advised which evening they need to attend and at what specific time, but if in doubt please ask your or your child’s coach who can confirm details for you.

Order forms have also been distributed to all teams and players and need to be returned ASAP, and at the very latest on your or your child’s scheduled photo day. Orders will be ready for pickup for our MiniRoos teams at the Junior Trophy Presentation day on Sunday17th October.

With the very affordable pricing options ranging from just $5 for an individual portrait photo up to $30 for the all-inclusive package (comprising individual and team printed photos and digital copies), be sure to get you order form completed and returned so you or your child don’t miss out on their 2021 BAFC team photos.
